The Power That Made The

If you have been a member of our practice for any length of time you have undoubtedly heard the phrase "The Power That Made The Body - Heals The Body." While it may seem like a cute little quip and lyrical phrase, it is vitally important that a chiropractic patient understand and know the concept that this phrase relays.

We all must acknowledge that there is a Universal Intelligence that runs the infinite world. "There is a Universal Intelligence in all matter which continually gives to it all its properties and actions thus maintaining its existence" is the Major Premise of Chiropractic Philosophy. Everything else will come from this statement.

This organization occurs on an atomic/subatomic level. If we go from the vast expanses of the universe to the electron microscope we see some form of organization. Planets move around the galaxy in a specific order, not randomly. Earth has such order that we can keep track of days, months, and seasons. Atoms demonstrate orderly movements of their atomic particles. Every atom demonstrates the same principle of organization. The atoms of a rock stay together to keep it a rock, fall turns to winter every time--it never goes back to summer, day follows night, an acorn grows into an oak tree--not a cow.

To many this Universal Intelligence is God. If that helps you to understand it, that's fine. However, while both God and Universal Intelligence are omnipresent, unswerving, without solicitude, immutable, God also has the characteristics of love, justice, righteousness and has personality. None of those attributes belong to Universal Intelligence. Universal Intelligence just is. Personally, I like to think of Universal Intelligence as a part of God.

Nowhere is the existence of intelligence and order more apparent than in living things. While all things possess Universal Intelligence, living things also possess an Innate Intelligence. A tree grows its roots in the soil and its leaves turn toward the sun, a bird's wings are designed perfectly for flight, a baby can digest food, beat his heart, use white blood cells to fight off infections, and cry when he wants attention. Innate Intelligence is not about how smart someone is. Innate Intelligence's purpose is to guide us to adapt to our environment in order to survive. When we are warm we sweat to cool off, when we are cold we shiver to generate heat, when a foreign body enters our body we use white blood cells to fight it. Innate Intelligence is the power that goes to work from the moment the sperm and egg join and the formation of the baby begins. It is the same power that continually renews, regenerates, and grows a new you on a regular basis.

Innate Intelligence works through the brain, spine, and nerves. Those are the organs it uses to communicate its purpose. How do we know? What would happen if your brain stopped working, would you live or die? What would happen if the nerve that goes to your heart was cut? Would you live or die? Both Universal Intelligence and Innate Intelligence are perfect. Their information is perfect. However, our bodies ability to express this information is not always perfect.

Due to limitations of matter, as in a subluxation, the proper flow of Innate Intelligence experiences interference. The result will be 'dis-ease', a lack of proper harmony and function of the body.

As long as there is no interference to the brain and nerves (subluxation) then the body can function at 100% and heal itself. There is no pill or potion that you can ADD to the body nor is there any surgery that can remove a subluxation. A Doctor of Chiropractic can detect and remove a subluxation with a specific chiropractic adjustment.

The greatest stories of chiropractic success are the ones that will never be told. All the diseases that never happened because people were raised subluxation-free.

Somebody thought enough of you to tell you about chiropractic which restored your health. Go thou and do likewise.

The Way To Health

Everyone wants to be healthy. That's a "given" in our society. No reasonable person would prefer sickness, fatigue, and pain, over a vigorous, vital, and healthy body. But while the goal may be the same, people take different paths in an effort to reach it.

First, they can turn to the medical and pharmaceutical industries in hopes of finding health. They can visit medical doctors and surgeons, take prescriptions and over-the-counter drugs -- all in an effort to treat their symptoms and diseases.

This path has created a multi-billion dollar disease business in this country. But according to almost every study done in the past few decades, it hasn't helped make us healthier. We're just as sick as we have ever been, in fact we keep getting worse. Major life threatening diseases like cancer, heart disease, and diabetes are striking more people than ever. New epidemics like Ebola and antibiotic resistant diseases are sweeping the globe. And so-called "medical science" isn't able to stem the tide.

In fact, the overuse, misuse, and abuse of drugs and surgical procedures are adding to the death toll.

Different Path, Same Mindset

As people become aware of the failure of medicine to find answers to their health question, they look for 'alternatives'. They are turning to herbs and natural remedies to relieve the symptoms and combat the illnesses. By doing so, they are eliminating some of the dangerous side effects of the chemical compounds pushed by the pharmaceutical companies. Yet, although they have changed the type of pill they take, they haven't changed their way of thinking about health.

The old "take a pill and make it better" mentality is the biggest problem we face in our society. We think that as long as we can take a pill that stops our nose from running, we're healthy; that if gulping down laxatives keeps us regular, we're improving the condition of our body.

But, if we are ever to achieve and maintain true health, we have to understand what health really is. We need to stop thinking in terms of treating illnesses, and start thinking in terms of creating wellness.

Most importantly, we have to realize that health is our body's natural state and the goal of health care should be to allow the body to function as it was designed to function. The body was created with all the mechanisms needed to maintain its health and -- regardless of how much they want you to believe otherwise -- medical doctors, drug company executives, and even chiropractors are NOT smarter than nature. They can hardly figure out how the body works, let alone figure out how to do it better.

Real health (not merely symptom suppression) is something we create from inside, not something we can achieve from pills or surgical procedures.

Save Thousands OnYour
Pharmaceutical Bills

The other day I received an unsolicited email with a title stating "Save Thousands on your pharmaceutical bills."

It was a blank email, one of those I was supposed to respond to and maybe find the secret of saving huge piles of cash.

What was interesting was the blank page. It made me think. I am saving thousands on my pharmaceutical bills now, how cool.

Years ago, before I was ever under chiropractic care I used to take Tylenol and aspirin at the first sign of a headache or a cold. To top that off, I used to sometimes take an aspirin before going to the gym so that I would not get a headache while working out or feel sore. (I thought that was the healthy thing to do).

Why the aspirin? Well, I heard somewhere (probably in a "health" magazine) that aspirin was good for you somehow and rather than looking into it, I just added it to the mix of stuff I took.

At sometime during my chiropractic care, I noticed that I was no longer taking the Tylenol or the aspirin. It wasn't because the chiropractor told me not to take them, I just noticed they were no longer "needed" and they all eventually simply ended up in the trash.

Sometime after that I began to realize that I was no longer getting colds like I used to. I still get colds but it seems as though I now know the day before that a cold is coming and for some reason I welcome it. I don't know why, but it comes -- my body adapts, and it's gone just as quick. I actually feel better after that. (if that makes sense) I'm like a little kid thinking "My body is so cool, it's so strong. That cold came and I just kicked it's butt. I am awesome!" So as I look back on the years behind me, I realize that I have saved thousands on my pharmaceutical bills and I know many others who have done the same.

What's my secret? I take responsibility for my health, I listen to my body, and I include lifetime wellness chiropractic care as a part of my lifestyle.

Have you stopped to think about the thousands you are saving on your pharmaceutical bills? How about trying a fresh dose of LIFE for a change?

Stress Rest Tip

Want to chase the stress of the day away? Who doesn't? I recommend 15 minutes of deep breathing and meditation. Do this a few times daily if needed to close out all of the mental noise and focus on your inner self, your spiritual self.

How to meditate? Sit on the front edge of a comfortable chair, both feet on the floor in a room or place void of interruptions. Close your eyes. Take 14 deep breaths to begin - in through the nose, out through the mouth and focus on absolute darkness and silence.

Initially you may feel strange, but after 3-6 sessions you will find yourself energized, confident, and in touch with your own inner thoughts. Eventually you will learn that the answer to challenges will surface as if from nowhere. You will find that the innate voice within will provide inspiration.

During the mediation you should take 7 deep breaths every several minutes. We are overwhelmed every moment of our waking hours with outside information. The meditation and breathing exercises will shut off the outside world and introduce you to the wondrous world within!

An Open Letter To All Parents

*In writing this article I have chosen to use the male pronouns (he, him, his) when referring to a child. I did this solely because alternating between the male and female pronouns became to cumbersome and detracted from the readability of the text. I hope this style of writing does not offend anyone.*

I'd like to talk to you about chiropractic care for your child and all children. After reading this article, I'm confident you'll have a great new way of not only ensuring that your children express more of the life within them, and come closer to reaching their fullest potential in life, but that you and your family will be able to do the same.

I know you care about your children. There probably isn't anything you care more for than them. In fact for most of you, your children and their well being are more important and precious than your own life. It is in my case.

Think back to the day your child or children were born. It was undoubtedly one of the most unforgettable days in your life. And that feeling never leaves you. From that day on you want the best for your children. You want them to be well and to do well. And I commend you for that. Especially in today's world where its becoming increasingly difficult to teach your children right from wrong and to protect them from the many dangers that lurk in the most unsuspecting places. Isn't that why we tell them to get off the couch and away from the TV or computer or video games? So they can go ride a bike or run and play. So that they can get some fresh air and exercise. Isn't that why we fight with them to eat their vegetables, or to do their homework, or to go to bed early even when they don't want to?

We do these things with the confidence that it will help them become happier, healthier, more productive adults. That's precisely what this article is about.

I'd like you to consider another terrific way to help your children perform better in academics and athletics, to help them adapt to stresses and their environment, be they physical, chemical, or emotional stresses. In short, to help them express more of the life they were intended.

Let's go back to the day your children were born. Can you remember that breath taking and awesome feeling? The absolute miracle of life. When at a certain moment there came into your life from seemingly nowhere another living being. Can you remember the tiny nose, breathing those first few gasps of air? Can you remember the little lungs crying out as they began to adapt to an entirely new environment? Can you remember the very tiny fingers and toes in just the right place at just the perfect size?

Life is really cool stuff, isn't it? But there's just no way this happens all by chance. Clearly the body is organized. And it knows how to be well. If it can put these lovely little creatures together in such a perfect manner in 9 months without any help from man or our educated minds then it certainly must have within it an intelligence that continually organizes and orchestrates all of the many complexities of the body. Wouldn't you agree?

The fact is, even in that very tiny baby, the wisdom of the body uses the nerve system to conduct all kinds of business without anyone giving it a second thought. You know a baby can circulate blood and make new living tissues as well as the smartest, most educated guy on the planet. The baby can digest food. Of course in smaller portions at first, but then increasingly bigger and more complicated food as the child continues to grow. And from this digested food, the baby is able to make new cells and living tissue to support its ever growing frame. No one tells him how to digest the food or what to do with it once its digested. It happens independent of our conscious thought.

This and almost every other function of the body is directed by the wisdom of our body, which uses the nerve system as a communication tool. It's used to develop and maintain the function of the heart, the breathing, and the immune system and many other things.

In fact, the nerve system is so vital to the well-being of the body, that even in that tiny baby it is entirely protected by bone. The brain is covered by the skull and the spinal cord is covered by the bones of the spine (called vertebrae).

Knowing that the nerve system runs virtually every other system of the body, do you think hving interference to the nerve system would be good or bad? I hope you said bad. Because it asolutely is bad. Your body simply cannot express the life within it as fully as possible when interference is present in the nerve system, and consequently a number of things may not be working as well as they should. And if this makes sense for little people, then it certainly makes sense for big people as well.

You may be thinking, 'yeah that makes sense, and if my child gets interference to the nerve system I'll be sure to take care of it'. But let me ask you, how would you know if your child has interference to the nerve system? Will you wait for him to tell you? Will you wait for something to hurt him? I certainly hope not. Because the truth is, children develop interference to the nerve system all the time, with absolutely no indication that it is present what so ever.

Because the bones of the spine can move, they can also misalign in such a way that they create these interferences in our nerve system. Let me ask you, would you know right now if your heart was beating a little slower than normal? Would you know if your body was unable to make a sufficient amount of white blood cells? Would you know whether your liver was cleaning your blood properly. The answer to all of these questions, and many, many other questions is a resounding NO. You simply can not know.

Let's go back a minute and consider some of the things that may cause interference to the nerve system. Do you think falling on your tailbone might rack the spine sufficiently to misalign a bone ever so slightly that it causes interference to the nerve system? Of course it absolutely can. Now let me ask you did your child fall on his tailbone at all when he was learning to walk? I'm sure you are saying yes. Probably hundreds of times, maybe thousands of times. Consider this, has your child, since learning to walk, fallen out of bed, or off their bike, has he stood on his head, or learned to do a somersault, has he learned to roller skate or skate board, has he started to bend over his books to study and do homework - forcing his small neck in unnatural positions for long periods of time? Does he play football, soccer, or does he wrestle - either as a sport or with you or their brothers and sisters? Does he swing a bat, a club, or a racket, does he play a musical instrument, has he gone through puberty - when his body is raging with chemical changes that stress him and everyone around them out?

Parents, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this list goes on and on and on. All of these things and thousands of others can create misalignments of the bones of the spine that create interference to the nerve system, prohibiting the body from working at its fullest potential. But what's more important than how long the list is, is where the list began and that's with the very trauma of birth itself. Many times during the delivery process the child is pulled and twisted through the birth canal. Its odd, because as soon as the child is born everyone is very careful to support his head and neck, but during the actual birth, almost anything goes. I'm sure you heard of forceps delivery, vacuum delivery, and C-sections, these are extraordinary high force deliveries. But even in a so called 'natural birth', the spinal bone can become misaligned in such a way to cause nerve interference to the nerve system without presenting any symptoms what so ever.

If that is true, how long are you going to leave the subluxation there? Even if your child didn't develop interference to his nerve system at birth, the question becomes has he done any of these other things that we have mentioned? Obviously, the answer is yes. Probably many of these things. Then the chances are great that your child has at least some interference to his nerve system right this minute. Interference that's keeping him from expressing his fullest potential in life.

I know you want what is best for your child. I know you feel your child deserves every opportunity in this life. I know you want to help you child in every way you possible can. Why don't you look into having your child's spine checked for vertebral subluxations? These small misalignments in the spinal bones create interference in the nerve system and keep the body from expressing its fullest potential in life.

Exactly what we've been talking about in this article. Why don't you schedule an appointment today to find out more about this simple and effective means of helping your child get more out of life. You'll be happy that you did. And your children will thank you some day.

It is not a matter of asking who needs chiropractic, because there is no one who does not need it. The question is "who can I introduce to the life and health changing benefits of chiropractic today?"

There is a certain segment of the population who need to know about chiropractic but are virtually over-looked. These people are the millions who enjoy symptom-free lives. They need chiropractic care as much as sick people.

Disease can no more exist in the presence of health than darkness can exist in the presence of light. Chiropractic does not fight the darkness (disease), it turns on the light (restores health).

Men occasionally stumble over the Truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing has happened. -Winston Churchill

-A slip on the snowy sidewalk in winter is a small thing. It happens to millions.

-A fall from a ladder in summer is a small thing. It also happens to millions.

-The slip or fall produces a subluxation. The subluxation is a small thing.

-The subluxation produces pressure on a nerve. That pressure is a small thing.

-That decreased flowing produces a dis-eased body and brain. That is a big thing to that man.

-Multiply that sick man by a thousand, and you control the physical and mental welfare of a city.

-Multiply that man by one hundred thirty million, and you can forecast and prophesy the physical and mental status of a nation.

-So the slip or fall, the subluxation, pressure, flow of mental images and dis-ease are big enough to control the thoughts and actions of a nation.

-Now comes a man. And one man is a small thing.

-This man gives an adjustment. The adjustment is a small thing.

-The adjustment replaces the subluxation. That is a small thing.

-The adjusted subluxation releases pressure upon nerves. That is a small thing.

-The released pressure restores health to a man. This is a big thing to that man.

-Multiply that man by a thousand, and you step up the physical and mental welfare of a city.

-Multiply that well man by a million, and you increase the efficiency of a state.

-Multiply that well man by a hundred thirty million, and you have produced a healthy, wealthy, and better race for posterity.

-So, the adjustment of subluxation to release pressure upon nerves, to restore mental impulse flow, to restore health, is big enough to rebuild the thoughts and actions of the world.

-The idea that knows the cause, that can correct the cause of dis-ease, is one of the biggest ideas known. Without it nations fall; with it, nations rise.

-This idea is the biggest I know of.
