You have likely been told at some point in your life that lessons are repeated until they are learned. And, it has been said that one definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Both of these ideas stress the importance of learning, and what is learning if not growth?
This leads us to a third idea; one that is probably one of the most important ideas of all - you were put here to GROW, and to continually experience and express life at the highest possible level.
While most people would agree that the goal of any life is to keep growing, they would also say that for the most part, their lives remain very much the same from year to year. In other words, they are mostly RE-volving rather than consistently E-volving. The root word -volve is from the Latin term meaning to fold, therefore the word evolve literally means to UN-fold, and the word revolve means to RE-fold. If you believe that your life is a gift from God, you must now ask yourself if you will keep on REFOLDING your gift, or if you will finally begin fully UNFOLDING it?
You may have answered that you would like to begin fully unwrapping the gift that is your life and share it with the world, but do you know how to do that? It is impossible for you to live, love, and give at the highest level without first knowing who you ARE at the highest level. In fact, all of the greatest masters that have ever walked our planet have taught that truly knowing yourself will set you free! And while completely knowing yourself is actually a growth process that occurs your whole life long, expressing yourself at your highest current level of knowing is always possible, and it is my goal for you.
"But wait!" you say, "Is that really what most people go to the chiropractor for, a greater life experience? What about health?" While it is true that most people initially go the chiropractor with a goal of greater health, they simply haven't consciously thought about the fact that health is a part of life. And, since all of life is a continually evolving process, and health is a part of life, it follows that experiencing higher levels of health is also a constantly unfolding process. But even more than that, health is a necessary FIRST STEP in the process of a higher life experience in every other area of your life, since you cannot have or give all that you desire in any area of life without your health.
So now, if we acknowledge that our goal is expressing life at its highest possible level, and that reaching that goal is a life-long process, our challenge becomes how to move consistently in the direction of health and expressing life at its highest possible level. We follow a simple three-step formula to help people move consistently toward wholeness:
1) Focus consistently upon moving toward what you most want to be, do and have in your health and life (as opposed to always trying to move away from what you don't want).
2) Make healthy choices so that all the cells of your body are able to function properly, heal and continue growing progressively stronger.
3) Keep your innate intelligence freely expressed throughout your entire body by achieving and maintaining a clear neurological connection between your brain and your body.
It is very easy to understand how your focus affects your health and life. Your thoughts create emotions, and your emotions cause specific chemicals to be produced in your body. Focusing on what's wrong, what's missing and what you don't want in your health and life creates emotions such as fear, depression, judgment, anxiety, anger and unworthiness, which will affect your desire and ability to make healthy lifestyle choices. But, these feelings also cause your body to produce chemicals that weaken your cells. These cells, now weakened by your biochemistry and poor lifestyle choices, lose their natural ability to function with ease; in other words, your body declines into a state of DIS-EASE (a lack of ease, incoordination, dysfunction).
If you focus on what's good, what you have to be grateful for and what you want to move toward in your health and life, you begin to feel love, happiness, acceptance and peace, as well as your own value, which increases your desire and ability to make healthy lifestyle choices. But, these feelings also cause your body to produce chemicals that actually strengthen your cells just like your healthy choices do, and these stronger cells now regain their natural ability to function with ease as you move consistently toward health, wellness and expressing life at its highest possible level.
This is important, because your innate intelligence not only requires strong cells to be expressed in and through, it also requires a clear neurological connection between your brain and your body. Since your spine's main functions are to surround and protect, and also regulate and maintain normal tension in your spinal cord as you move and breathe, any misalignment or dysfunction in your spine will alter the expression of your innate intelliegence, causing you to lose your naturally healthy and dynamic state of being. In addition, your attitude is reflected in your posture. After all, we can easily tell if someone is mentally and emotionally "up" or "down" just by looking at how they stand. Maintaining a positive focus helps all of the structures that support your nerve system stay as healthy and strong as possible.
So now, the first important question becomes, will you continue to focus on what you have been focusing upon up until now (what is wrong, missing and what you don't want) and keep RE-VOLVING - or possibly even DE-VOLVING, or will you shift your thoughts onto what's good, what you have to be grateful for and what you want to move toward in your health and life and begin E-VOLVING?
It is also very easy to see how your lifestyle choices affect your ability to have a whole, healthy and happy life experience. You know that following a poor cake recipe, skipping important steps or using inferior ingredients will produce a foul tasting cake. Your lifestyle is your recipe for your health, and making poor choices will cause you to experience a distasteful level of health and life. Unhealthy choices also cause you to have a decreased level of energy to get through and give to the day. This makes it much harder for you to keep a positive focus and initiates the downward spiral in your health and life described above. In addition, weak bones, muscles and cartilage cause your spine to function at less than optimal levels and can interfere with the neurological connection between your brain and body, altering the flow of life energy throughout your entire body!
What are some positive choices you can begin making to ensure you E-volve? You can deep breathe, increase your fluid intake, boost the amount of live and raw foods in your diet, step up the amount of movement you get and participate in a fitness program, take time each day to quiet your mind, get plenty of rest and deep sleep, spend time in the sunlight, stay clean, make sure you are balancing your time between all the areas of your life as much as possible, and above all, see your chiropractor. It has been said, "If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you have always gotten."
So now, the second important question to answer is, will you continue the lifestyle you have been choosing and continue RE-VOLVING - or possibly even DE-VOLVING in your health and life, or will you now begin making choices that actively help you E-VOLVE?
The third and final step in our formula for moving consistently toward expressing life at its highest possible level is to keep the expression of your innate intelligence flowing freely throughout your entire body by achieving and maintaining a clear neurological connection between your brain and your body. This is where a consistent program of chiropractic care is so incredibly valuable, and even crucial to E-volving rather than simply RE-volving.
The Chiropractic Connection
So let's now look very closely at why having a clear neurological connection is so vital to achieving our goal of moving toward health, wellness, and expressing life at its highest possible level, as well as how a regular program of chiropractic care is a vital key to unlocking your potential.
We said previously that all of life is a continually evolving process, and that health is a part of life. Therefore it must also be true that experiencing higher levels of health is a constantly unfolding process as well. But what exactly IS health? Most people define health mainly as the absence of some form of disease, but modern scientists have written extensively on why this cannot possibly be the case. They have shown that darkness is not the presence of something, but is in reality the absence of light energy. They also agree that coldness is not the presence of something, but the absence of heat energy.
Similarly, any manifestation of disease (whether pain, spam, inflammation, cancer or ANY other "illness") is not the presence of something; it is simply the particular and specific way that a decrease in the expression of your "health" has shown up in your body. The truth is that health is not the absence of something; in fact, it isn't a physical state at all...
Health is the ability to adapt to most of the physical chemical, mental and emotional stresses you encounter each day and maintain your NATURAL state of EASE.
And where do we get this "ability" we call health? This dynamic state of being is the natural result of the full expression of your innate intelligence! When your brain and your body are clearly connected through your nerve system, your innate intelligence flows freely and can correctly comprehend and respond to everything that is going on both with your body. This allows every single function in your body to be performed with ease, as long as you also have a positive focus and make healthy lifestyle choices.
We previously looked at how each of the first two steps in our formula directly affected the other two. A clear nerve system is also intimately connected to and directly impacts your ability to effectively apply each of the other two steps. If there is any interruption to the free flow of your innate intelligence through your nerve system, energy usage becomes very inefficient and the body goes into what is known as "survival mode" in order to conserve energy. In survival mode, the highest centers of the brain are effectively shut down, and all decisions are made from a survival mindset. In other words, you begin noticing what is wrong, what's missing and what you don't want, and you tend to focus mainly on how to avoid those things. We have already described how destructive this is to your health and life, including how it affects your ability to make healthy choices!
On the other hand, a CLEAR neurological connection allows the free flow of innate intelligence, takes you out of survival mode and allows the highest centers of the brain to begin functioning again. The result is that you begin noticing more of what's right, what you have to be grateful for and what you want to be, do and have in your life, in addition to making better lifestyle choices. The result is an upward spiral in your health and vitality!
It has been said that our bodies are in reality electro-chemical factories that produce a greater variety of chemicals every single second than all of the man-made facilities on our planet combined. In addition to making all of these chemicals, it has been conservatively estimated that as many as 6 million processes are occurring in each of your 150 trillion + cells every second. These are amazing facts, and yet without a CLEAR NEUROLOGICAL CONNECTION between the innate intelligence that runs your body and all of those 150 trillion + cells, NONE of it would be possible. Remember, the only difference between a recently dead body and a live body is the presence or absence of a functioning innate intelligence!
Where and how does CHIROPRACTIC fit into the equation? Very simply, your spine's main functions are to surround and protect, and also regulate and maintain normal tension in your spinal cord as you move and breathe. Any misalignment or dysfunction in your spine (what we call a subluxation) will alter the tension in your nerve system, disrupt the normal flow of your innate intelligence and cause you to progressively lose your naturally healthy and dynamic state of being. However, getting checked by your chiropractor (and adjusted if necessary) a minimum of once every week ensures that your spine is aligned and functioning properly, your nerve system is at the correct tension for normal communication between your brain and your body, and you have the best possible chance of moving steadily toward health, wellness and expressing life at its highest possible level.
This brings us to the final aspect of E-volving vs. RE-volving, and that is in the way you and your family will use chiropractic care in your lives. Some people see chiropractic as a kind of "treatment" for whatever ails them, and they come in to get checked whenever they feel they aren't at their best. But I ask you this, if the definition of needing an adjustment is that you are not fully expressing your innate intelligence, then how can you be sure you are connected enough to KNOW that you aren't connected? In other words, might your lack of connection actually prevent you from knowing that you are no longer functioning at 100 percent?
The very best this schedule of symptom-based care will allow is a continual RE-VOLVING of increased and decreased health, and therefore a life that simply keeps RE-VOLVING as well. Is this the goal and standard you have set for yourself and your family - to simply keep RE-VOLVING in your health and your lives? Or do you have a higher vision of what is possible for all of you? What legacy will you leave your future generations?
How much of your time, energy, and money are you and your family willing to invest in yourselves and in your future? One way to look at life is to see your resources as constantly RE-volving - you give some away and some eventually comes back. But there is another way to look at it as well! What if you were to see all of your resources as continually E-volving? What if you said to yourself, "The more I give, the more I have!"
The more you give your time, energy, and resources to focusing on what is right, what you have to be grateful for and what you most want to move toward in your health and life, the more time, energy and resources you will have! The more time, energy and resources you give to making healthy lifestyle choices, the more time, energy and resources you will have! And the more time, energy and resources you invest in a program of regular chiropractic care to ensure the free flow of the innate intelligence of your body, the more time, energy and resources you will have! ALL THREE of these things are necessary in order to keep moving toward expressing life at its highest possible level. The choice is yours and yours alone to make, so I will ask the question one more time...
